Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition
The Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition (IGVC) offers a design and construction experience that is at the cutting edge of engineering education. The hands-on team competition is multidisciplinary, theory-based and judged by product realization. It encompasses the very latest technologies impacting industrial development and taps subjects of high interest to students.
Students at all levels of undergraduate and graduate education compete for prizes up to $10,000 by designing and constructing intelligent vehicles. In addition to electrical, computer science and mechanical engineering, students develop team organization, leadership and professional skills. Through the competition, students hone their business and engineering management, graphic arts and public relations capabilities by interacting with industry sponsors who contribute hardware and advice. This provides students a glimpse into the trade as well as connections for future employment.
