Q: How did you become involved with the Army?

I currently serve as president-elect of National PTA, the nation’s oldest and largest child advocacy association. National PTA and the U.S. Army Marketing and Research Group have been collaborating for several years in support of the country’s families, educators and school administrators. The Army and National PTA share a commitment to making a difference for the education, development and futures of our nation’s youth and ensuring that every child reaches their full potential, both in school and in life. Our organizations have been working together to improve the educational experiences of high school students as they prepare for college, career, military service and citizenship readiness.

National PTA is also a member of the Army’s “Strengthening America’s Youth” (SAY) Committee. Through our participation, we have been sharing our passion and expertise on education with Army leaders and other SAY Committee members.

Q: How has your partnership with the Army made a difference to your organization?

The Army has a strong legacy, and we are fortunate to collaborate with an organization that is so closely aligned with our mission to make every child’s potential a reality. The Army has a wide variety of free educational resources that aim to improve student readiness for post-secondary education, the workforce and military service. Our collaboration with the Army has provided us with access to these great resources and the opportunity to bring the resources to students and families nationwide. Through our collaboration and with the resources, we are able to help more students excel in the classroom and beyond.

Q: Why do you feel military service should be considered a viable post-secondary option?

Military service is a very viable and important post-secondary option for our nation’s youth. Through involvement in the Army, youth have increased leadership, education and career opportunities available to them. The Army offers a wide variety of career opportunities, both during and after military service. In addition to career pathways, military service provides our youth with important opportunities for personal growth and development. Military service empowers youth with essential skills that make them leaders in society and valuable assets in the workforce.

Q: Why do you feel it is important to support the Army as a leader in your community?

The Army is a leader and champion for students, families, educators, schools and communities across the country. The Army has made a true difference in the lives our nation’s youth and in ensuring that they are prepared for college, career, military service and citizenship. National PTA is proud to support and collaborate with the Army to improve education and make every child’s potential a reality.
